04.14.11: In the Globe & Mail yesterday
I said I wouldn't use this in my blog ... but I can't resist due to the enormous amount of response so far.
As you already know, I am not a Harper supporter.
It's not that I am a Liberal or not a Conservative (whatever Harper conservatism is), I am not a Harper fan and want him replaced as soon as practical.
If you happen to read the comments after watching this video, I wonder if you are surprised to see the anger in the under-40 population (the new 40s is the old 30s).
I also wonder if you know what a "hipster" is.
I also wonder how anti-politics we (probably mainly under-40s) have become - very low voter turnout at last election.
I also wonder how Harper maintains his popularity, with the negative things he has done in the last couple of years.
I also wonder how Canadians aren't deeply concerned about the perception other countries have of us (exclusion from UN council, non-recognition of climate change, withdrawal of African aid, aggressive position in Iraq and Afghanistan, etc).
The older I get, the more I wonder ...

Thanks Chuck,
ReplyDeleteSomeone young (or old!) person needs to start a protest group on facebook like CanadasYoungPeopleMustVote - to help get them engaged.
Harper is the best of the worst. Every time we punish the leader of a party we must switch party allegiance. I am not sure what the costs to the taxpayer for switching parties in power is but it must be enormous. Minority government likely gives us the best bang for the buck. Why put another party into power to push through the extremely costly cycle of punishment again? If Harper removes the taxpayers from burden of the next election as promised then the parties who can not get their funding elsewhere will start to fade away. Babble Babble Babble
Chuck, you need to get some balance in your life. Let me buy you the Nat Post for a week. They have a great mix of columnists including John Moore and John Ivison who are definitely not Harper fans. They also have the best golf columnists in Bruce Arthur and Cam Cole.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how anyone could consider voting for Ignatieff. He's a flake and a fake.
I guess one man's meat is another's poison.
To me the Bloc is killing democracy in this country. We need a leader who will stand up to Quebec. We won't get that unless we have a majority government. Unfortunately we won't get one until the Bloc are taken out of the equation. It's a chicken and egg situation.
